2. What is the average marks scored per subject by Akash in all the five subjects together?

A 164
B 186
C 177
D 172
E None of these

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – A. 164

Total marks obtained by Akash in five subjects = 0.78 × 150 + 0.87 × 200 + 0.68 × 250 + 0.92 × 175 + 0.88 × 225 = 820

Average marks = 820 ÷ 5 = 164

A 39
B 35
C 37
D 31
E None of these

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – D. 31

Marks obtained by Ajay in BEE and NACP together = 0.91 × 200 + 0.68 × 175 = 301

Marks obtained by Ashwani in BME and ED together = 0.40 × 150 + 0.84 × 250 = 270

Required difference = 301 – 270 = 31

A 6
B 2

D 3
E 5

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – D 3

Maximum marks of all the subjects together = 150 + 200 + 250 + 175 + 225 = 1000

So minimum marks required to obtain scholarship = 0.75 × 1000 = 750

Total marks obtained by Ajay in five subjects = 0.62 × 150 + 0.92 × 200 + 0.70 × 250 + 0.68 × 175 + 0.80 × 225 = 749

Total marks obtained by Akash in five subjects = 0.78 × 150 + 0.87 × 200 + 0.68 × 250 + 0.92 × 175 + 0.88 × 225 = 820

Total marks obtained by Pankaj in five subjects = 0.88 × 150 + 0.63 × 200 + 0.94 × 250 + 0.96 × 175 + 0.64 × 225 = 805

Total marks obtained by Gaurav in five subjects = 0.92 × 150 + 0.57 × 200 + 0.86 × 250 + 0.76 × 175 + 0.84 × 225 = 789

Total marks obtained by Shashi in five subjects = 0.66 × 150 + 0.71 × 200 + 0.74 × 250 + 0.72 × 175 + 0.56 × 225 = 678

Total marks obtained by Ashwani in five subjects = 0.40 × 150 + 0.73 × 200 + 0.84 × 250 + 0.88 × 175 + 0.60 × 225 = 705

So only 3 students: Akash, Pankaj and Gaurav had scored above 750 and got scholarship.
