Rs 5,000 crore credit facility to be given to 50 lakh street vendors
- Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that Rs 5,000 crore credit facility will be given to 50 lakh street vendors hit by the coronavirus-induced lockdown.
- The government will launch a special scheme within a month to facilitate easy access to credit to the street vendors.
- “We will provide Rs 5,000 crore special credit facility for street vendors”.
- The initial working capital of Rs 10,000 will be provided to them.
- Digital Payments will be incentivized through monetary rewards and enhanced working capital credit would be made available for good repayment behavior.
