Vo Van Thuong succeeds Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who resigned from the post of President in January 2023. Vo Van Thuong, nominated by the ruling communist party was elected with 98.38% of the votes(487 out of 488 votes). The election is a part of the reshuffle of Vietnam’s top leadership amid an antigraft campaign. Võ Thị Ánh Xuân(53 years old), Vice President of Vietnam (since 2021) has served as the Acting State President since the stepping down of her predecessor Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on 17th January 2023.

A data licensing agreement has been signed between CME Group and NSE that allows NSE to list, trade and settle rupee-denominated Nymex WTI crude oil and natural gas derivatives contracts on the platform of CME.
This has expanded the product offering by NSE in the energy basket as well as its overall commodity segment.
Nymex WTI crude oil and natural gas contracts are among the world’s most traded commodity derivatives contracts.
Trading in derivatives was started by NSE in 2000 and later on, it set up index options trading in 2001. Index options give the investor the right to purchase or sell the underlying stock for a definite time period.
According to Futures Industry Association (FIA), in terms of trading volume (contracts) for 2022, NSE is the world’s largest exchange.
As per World Federation of Exchanges, NSE is third in world in the cash equities by number of trades for 2022.

Barua was chief secretary of Assam from October 2020 to August 2022. The CERC has been established by the government of India under the provisions of the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998. CERC is the central commission for the purposes of the Electricity Act, 2003 which has repealed the ERC Act, 1998.
The commission consists of a chairperson and four other members, including Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority, who is the ex-officio member of the commission.
Major functions of CERC under the Act are, inter-alia, to regulate the tariff of generating companies owned or controlled by the central government, to regulate the tariff of other generating companies having a composite scheme for generation and sale of electricity in more than one state, to regulate the inter-state transmission of electricity and to determine tariff for such transmission of electricity, etc.
Under the Act, CERC shall also advise the central government on formulation of national electricity policy and tariff policy; promotion of competition, efficiency and economy in activities of electricity industry; promotion of investment in electricity industry; and any other matter referred to the central commission by the government.
