51 million children under two years are affected by stunting in the world. About half of these children gets affected by stunting during pregnancy. Between 2020 and 2022, the number of pregnant or breastfeeding women suffering from acute malnutrition increased by 25 percent. These 12 countries include Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Chad and Yemen. UNICEF said that priority will be given to women and girls in terms of access to nutritious food.
