What is Number Series?

Number series is a form of numbers in a certain sequence, where some numbers are mistakenly put into the series of numbers and some number is missing in that series, we need to observe first and then find the accurate number to that series of numbers.

In the Banking exams Number Series questions asked in the Prelims as well as Mains exam.There are 5 Number Series Questions asked in the Prelims exam (Bank).You want to score more in the Number Series section then you should practice more and more Quant Series questions.

Here alternate numbers are forming patterns –
Series 1:  106   52   ?   11.5
Series 2: 84   44   24   14
Series 1:
→ 106
→ 52 = (106 – 2) ÷ 2
→ ? = (52 – 2) ÷ 2,
→ 11.5 = (25 – 2) ÷ 2,
Series 2:
→ 84
→ 44 = (84 ÷ 2) + 2
→ 24 = (44 ÷ 2) + 2,
→ 14 = (24 ÷ 2) + 2,
Thus, the missing number is 25

The pattern of given series is:
→ 3,
→ 10 = 3 × 1 + (1 × 7),
→ 32 = 10 × 2 + (2 × 6),

→2315 = 460 × 5 + (5 × 3),
Thus, the missing number is 111

Series is based on the following pattern.
1 × 2 + 12 = 3
2 × 4 – 22 = 4
3 × 6 + 32 = 27

∴ Wrong number is 45.

4.Find the missing term in the series-

The given series is a combination of two series.
(I)    6     18     30     42
(II)  22      34     ?     58
The pattern in both (i) and (ii) is + 12
So, missing term = 34 + 12 = 46

Given series is in pattern:
16
16 + 3 × 2 = 22
22 + 3 × 3 = 31
31 + 3 × 4 = 43

So, the required number is 121.

The pattern of given series is:

→ 352 = 880 × 0.4,
