1.Same amount of principal is invested at both simple interest and compound interest for 3 years which offers similar rate of interest of 10% per annum. Find the principal amount invested in each case, if difference between the simple interest and the compound interest earned on the principal amount is Rs. 744.
2.A solution X containing 40 ml of acid and 68 ml of water is completely mixed with some quantity of solution Y, composed of acid and water, which has a 60% concentration of acid. If the proportion of acid and water in the final mixture is equal, then find the quantity of solution Y mixed with solution X.
3.The number of students in DAV school in the academic year 2016 is 2400. If the number of boys in the academic year 2017 increases by 15% and the number of girls in the academic year 2017 increases by 10%, then find the number of boys in the academic year 2017, if the total number of students in 2017 is 2690.
4.Two shopkeepers sell a watch at the same selling price. One of them sells it at 25% profit and the other sells it at 20% loss. If difference between the cost prices of the two watches is Rs. 1080, then what is the selling price of a watch?
5.The average number of female employees working in 6 companies is 198. If the total number of employees working in these 6 companies is 3252, then find the average number of male employees working in each of these 6 companies.
6.Vessel A and B contain 300 litres and 500 litres of mixtures of milk and water in the ratio of 3:2 and 7:3, respectively. ‘x’% of the total quantity is drawn from each vessel and the overall quantity of milk drawn is found to be 212 litres. Find the value of ‘x’.
7.The sum of the time taken by a boat to travel 600 km upstream and 600 km downstream is 27 hours. If the speed of the boat is 9 times the speed of the stream, then what is the speed of the boat?
8.There are 20 tissues in a packet which include white, red and pink tissues. The number of white, red and pink tissues is (x + 1), (x – 1) and (x + 5), respectively. If 4 tissues are randomly selected from the packet, what is the probability of selecting at least 2 white tissues and at least 1 red tissue?
9.Train A running at a speed of 72 km/hr without any halt can cover the distance between source and destination in 5 hours 15 minutes. If another train B running at a constant speed which is 75% of the speed of train A covers the same distance with ‘x’ halts in 7 hours 40 minutes and the average time taken per stop by train B is 5 minutes, then find the value of ‘x’.
10.Two circular stages of radius 5 m each are to be constructed inside a park of length 60 m and breadth 25 m respectively. What would be the area of the region inside the park excluding the stages? (Consider π = 3.14)
