1.What is the total number of MCA students studying in all the five colleges combined in 2010?

A 10292
B 10297
C 10302
D 10307
E  None of these

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – B.10297

Explanation:

Let the number of BCA students studying in college A = x

So the number of B.Tech students studying in college A = 1.75x

So according to question: 1.75x + x = 7500 – 2325 – 1875

2.75x = 3300

So x = 1200

1.75x = 1.75 × 1200 = 2100

So the number of BCA students and the number of B.Tech students studying in college A are 1200 and 2100 respectively.

Let the number of B.Tech students and the number of MBA students studying in college E are 10y and 9y respectively.

So according to question: 10y + 9y = 8100 – 1377 – 2106

19y = 4617, y = 243

9y = 9 × 243 = 2187

Number of B.Tech students and the number of MBA students studying in college E are 2430 and 2187 respectively.

Let the number of BCA students studying in college C = z

So the number of MBA students studying in college C = 2z

So, according to question: z + 2z = 7200 – 1944 – 2016

3z = 3240, z = 1080

Number of BCA students and the number of MBA students studying in college C are 1080 and 2160 respectively.

Number of MBA students studying in college B = 6800 – 1700 – 952 – 2380 = 1768

Number of MCA students studying in college D = 6400 – 1472 – 2176 – 832 = 1920

2.Number of MBA students studying in college B and D combined were approximately what percentage more than the number of BCA students studying in college A and E combined?

A 35%
B 42%
C 48%
D 53%
E 57%

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – D. 53%

Explanation:

Let the number of BCA students studying in college A = x

So the number of B.Tech students studying in college A = 1.75x

So according to question: 1.75x + x = 7500 – 2325 – 1875

2.75x = 3300

So x = 1200

1.75x = 1.75 × 1200 = 2100

19y = 4617, y = 243

Directions:(6-10) Answer the questions based on the information given below.

The pie chart given below provides information about the population of five different cities of Kangra in 2017. Population of Nagrota in 2017 was 60480.

Note: Total population of a city = Number of men + Number of women + Number of children

Male population = Number of men + Number of boys

Female population = Number of women + Number of girls

6.25% of the population in Dharaman are children out of which 11325 are boys. The number of women and number of men are in the ratio of 3:4 respectively. Find the difference in the male population and female population of Dharaman.

A  9050
B  9150
C  9250
D  9350
E  9450

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – B. 9150

Explanation:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra = 60480 / 0.16 = 378000

Population of Dharaman = 0.25 × 378000 = 94500

Number of children in Dharaman = 0.25 × 94500 = 23625

Number of girls in Dharaman = 23625 – 11325 = 12300

Number of men and women combined in Dharaman = 94500 – 23625 = 70875

Number of women in Dharaman = 70875 × 3 / 7 = 30375

Number of men in Dharaman = 70875 × 4 / 7 = 40500

Male population of Dharaman = 40500 + 11325 = 51825

Female population of Dharaman = 30375 + 12300 = 42675

Required difference = 51825 – 42675 = 9150

7.In Jiya, 40% of the total population was literate. Population of Jiya was 30% less than the population of Chandpur. 65% of the population of village Chandpur is literate. Find the difference between the illiterate population of Jiya and Chandpur.

A 7260
B 7360
C 7460
D 7560
E None of these

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – D. 7560

Explanation:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra = 60480 / 0.16 = 378000

Population of Jiya = 0.2 × 378000 = 75600

Literate population of Jiya = 0.40 × 75600 = 30240

Illiterate population of Jiya = 75600 – 30240 = 45360

Population of Chandpur = 75600 / 0.70 = 108000

Literate population of Chandpur = 0.65 × 108000 = 70200

Illiterate population of Chandpur = 108000 – 70200 = 37800

Required difference = 45360 – 37800 = 7560

Find the difference in the number of people who speak only English and the number of people who speak neither of the two languages.

A 776
B 796
C 816
D 836
E 856

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – C. 816

Explanation:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra = 60480 / 0.16 = 378000

Population of Panchrukhi = 0.24 × 378000 = 90720

Population of Panchrukhi that speaks English = 0.35 × 90720 = 31752

Population of Panchrukhi that speaks Punjabi = 0.45 × 90720 = 40824

Population of Panchrukhi that speaks only English = 31752 – 7212 = 24540

Population of Panchrukhi that speak neither of the two languages = 90720 – 31752 – 40824 + 7212 = 25356

Required difference = 25356 – 24540 = 816

9.15% of the population of Nagrota and 10% of the population of Panchrukhi migrated to Baijnath due to which the population of Baijnath increased by 14%. Find the population of Baijnath before migration.

A 129600
B 108400
C 88200
D 64800
E None of these

Show Correct Answers

Correct Answer – A. 129600

Explanation:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra = 60480/ 0.16 = 378000

Population of Panchrukhi = 0.24 × 378000 = 90720

Population of Panchrukhi migrated to Baijnath = 0.1 × 90720 = 9072

Population of Nagrota migrated to Baijnath = 0.15 × 60480 = 9072

Population of Baijnath before migration = (9072 + 9072)/0.14 = 129600
