(x – 2) + (x) + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 328
4x + 4 = 328
x + 1 = 82
x = 81
∴ Largest number = x + 4 = 81 + 4 = 85

Explanation:Sum of 8 no.s = 40 × 8 = 320
Sum of first three numbers = 46 × 3 = 138
Sum of next two numbers = 50 × 2 = 100
Sixth number = x
Seventh number = x + 6
Eight number = x + 10
∴ 138 + 100 + x + x + 6 + x+ 10 = 320
3x = 320 – 138 – 100 – 6 – 10
