In a first, Uttarakhand releases report on conservation of endemic, threatened floras
- Uttarakhand has become the first state to release a unique report highlighting its conservation efforts to save over 1,100 rare plants from extinction.

India helps Uganda to set up military war game centre
- Indian Association in Uganda, with help of the Indian Military training team, set up a military war game centre in Jinja district. On Sunday, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni inaugurated the war game centre conceptualised by Indian military team for Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF).

India’s crude steel output slips 65% to 3.13 MT in April 2020 – World Steel report
- India’s crude steel output declined over 65 per cent to 3.13 million tonnes (MT) during April, according to the World Steel Association.
- The government imposed a nationwide lockdown on March 25 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic which has impacted production, demand and supply of steel in India.
- The country had produced 9.02 MT of crude steel during the same month a year ago, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) said in a report.

- The Research Centre Imarat (RCI), DRDO has successfully developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Attendance Application (AINA), which allows non-contact based personnel verification using facial features of a person captured with the help of a low cost camera.
- According to an official release, with the Covid-19 pandemic making it unsafe to use contact based biometric verification for attendance marking systems, the RCI had developed AINA to circumvent this problem.

- A US Navy warship has successfully tested a new high-energy laser weapon that can destroy aircraft mid-flight, the Navy’s Pacific Fleet has announced.
- Images and videos provided by the Navy show the amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland executing “the first system-level implementation of a high-energy class solid-state laser” to disable an aerial drone aircraft, the Navy said in a statement.

Balbir Singh Senior Hockey Legend passed away at 96
- Former India hockey legend and the captain of the Indian national side, Balbir Singh Sr passed away on Monday after multiple health complications.
- His demise was announced by the director of Fortis Hospital in Mohali and later by his grandson Kabir.
- Balbir Singh was the manager of the only Indian side to win World Cup victory in 1975 and his record for most goals by an individual player in an Olympic final (made in 1952, Helsinki), remains unbeaten.
