Andhra CM Launches ‘Jagananna Chedodu’ Scheme For Tailors, Barbers And Washermen
- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday launched the ‘Jagananna Chedodu’ scheme to provide financial assistance to tailors, barbers and washermen.
- According to an official release, Rs 10,000 was provided to 2.47 lakh beneficiaries by transferring a total amount of Rs 247 crores directly into their bank accounts under the unencumbered mode, which does not allow the bankers to deduct this amount towards previous loans of the beneficiaries if any.

SAUNI schemes 3rd phase to fill Saurashtra Dams by 2021
- Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani on Tuesday announced that the phase 2 and phase 3 of the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) scheme to fill Saurashtra”s 115 dams with Narmada water will be completed by August 15 and March, 2021 respectively and the officials concerned have been instructed accordingly.

Migrants to Receive Covid Care via Ayushman Bharat Scheme
- The government is preparing a list of migrant workers from across states to offer health insurance benefits under the flagship Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) amid the coronavirus crisis.
- The National Health Authority (NHA), the implementing agency, said on Wednesday that it was coordinating with state governments to identify eligible beneficiaries, and is setting up a process to issue AB-PMJAY e-cards to migrants at the earliest. The move is aimed at ensuring health cover to the under-privileged during the pandemic.

- In a bid to provide adequate drinking water to rural households, the Centre has approved Rs 1,280 crore for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Madhya Pradesh for 2020-21, an official said on Thursday. The state government had presented an annual action plan on drinking water and sanitation aimed at providing adequate drinking water to rural households in the state, said Malay Shrivastava, principal secretary of public health engineering department.

CBIC launches its flagship programme ‘Turant Customs’ at Bengaluru & Chennai
- Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Monday launched its flagship programme ‘Turant Customs’, at Bengaluru and Chennai. This is a giant leap forward to leverage technology for faster Customs clearance of imported goods.
- Under the programme, the importers will now get their goods cleared from Customs after a faceless assessment is done remotely by the Customs officers located outside the port of import.

OECD Predicts 7.3% Fall in GDP for India in FY 2020-21
- The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has said that India’s economy may contract by as much as 7.3 per cent in FY21 in case of a second coronavirus outbreak by year end. Otherwise, the economy is expected to shrink at 3.7 per cent, the intergovernmental economic organisation said in its latest Economic Outlook. Earlier in March, OECD had projected the GDP to grow at 5.1 per cent.
- The report also said that the government’s fiscal deficit is likely to stand between 8.2 per cent and 8.9 per cent in the ongoing fiscal, indicating shrinking tax revenue.

- Former Manchester United defender Tony Dunne, who played in their first European Cup-winning side in 1968, has died at the age of 78.
- The Ireland left-back was part of the team that defeated Benfica 4-1 at Wembley in the 1968 final alongside George Best and Bobby Charlton, and under the great United manager Matt Busby.
